Floodplain Farms Between Nowra and Greenwell Point
Pyree is a farming locality on the flat, fertile country of the lower Shoalhaven River, a short drive east of Nowra on the way to Greenwell Point. Paddocks, drainage channels and dairy sheds set the scene, with homesteads spread well apart and the river and its creeks never far away.
Although Pyree is filed under our Jervis Bay pages, it really belongs to the Nowra side of the Shoalhaven, closer to Terara, Numbaa and Brundee than to Huskisson. Households here include farming families who have worked the same land for generations, newer acreage owners, and people who commute into Nowra each day. Their technology needs are practical: a farm office computer that behaves, internet that holds up, and records that survive whatever the weather brings.
Keeping Rural Homesteads Connected
Houses at Pyree range from older weatherboard farmhouses to modern builds on rural blocks. Distance between neighbours means Wi-Fi only has to cover your own place, but thick old walls, long verandahs and sheds a hundred metres from the kitchen make that harder than it sounds. Mobile coverage on the floodplain can be decent in one paddock and poor in the next.
Several households also keep one ageing desktop that holds everything: the family photos, the tax records and the herd spreadsheets. When that machine starts to struggle, the whole household feels it.
The Farm Office and the Home Business
Most businesses around Pyree are farms, contractors and small operators who run the paperwork from a spare room. Milk production records, livestock systems, payroll and BAS all end up on the same computer, and the same laptop often travels to the sale yards or the accountant in Nowra. That makes it valuable and vulnerable at once.
The floodplain adds a specific risk. When the Shoalhaven rises, roads can close and low-lying buildings can take water, so anything stored only on a single machine in the house is exposed. We encourage every rural operator to keep an automatic copy away from the property through managed backup, and to know how they would keep trading if they had to work from somewhere else for a week.
Finding Our Way Around the Lower Shoalhaven
Pyree sits between Nowra and the coast, with Terara, Numbaa, Worrigee and Greenwell Point all close by. Roads across the floodplain are flat and straight, but some are cut during major floods, so we check conditions before heading out after heavy rain. Long driveways, cattle grids and gates are normal, and we are happy to be told which gate to leave closed.
Many problems, like a stuck update or an email that will not send, are fixed over a secure remote session without anyone leaving the house. When hands-on work is needed, such as cabling a shed or replacing a failed drive, we aim for same-day or next-business-day visits where we can. Our computer and wireless networks team handles the longer-distance links farms need.
Other places we look after in the 2540 postcode include Bamarang 2540, Barringella 2540, Basin View 2540, Beecroft Peninsula 2540 and Berrara 2540. See every suburb in Jervis Bay, or our IT Support Canberra page for the whole district.

What we do in Pyree
IT Support Services
Running slow, overheating, fans roaring or refusing to boot at all? We repair laptops and desktops for homes and offices, with most jobs turned around the same day.
When a machine starts misbehaving, our technicians work through it methodically, isolate the real cause, and get you back up and running instead of guessing.
A new printer, monitor, webcam or external drive should just work. We install and configure peripherals so they slot neatly into your existing setup.
Cracked, flickering or blacked-out laptop, tablet and monitor screens are usually repairable. We assess and replace them with genuine parts, quickly.
A quick SSD swap or extra memory can breathe years back into a tired computer. We fit the upgrades that give you the biggest performance gain for the least outlay.
Whether it is a fresh setup, a migration or the classic will-not-send headache, we sort Microsoft 365, Outlook and Google Workspace email for households and teams.
We design, install and extend wired and Wi-Fi networks so homes and offices from Bonython to Chisholm get strong, secure coverage in every room, including tricky NBN connections.
New phone or tablet? We set it up, connect it and carry across your contacts, messages, photos and apps, so you walk away ready to go with nothing left behind.
Patient one-on-one or small-group training for people of any age and skill level, pitched to where you are at so the lessons actually stick.
Failed hard drive, dead USB stick or files that have simply vanished? We work to recover what matters most to you, and if there is no data there is no fee.
We set up automatic local, cloud or hybrid backups for homes and businesses, then test the restore so you know your files will actually come back when it counts.
Encryption, sensible access controls and clear policies keep your data out of the wrong hands without getting in the way of your working day.
Moving to a new device? We transfer your data across cleanly, check every file landed safely, and keep downtime to a minimum.
A fresh Windows or macOS install clears out years of clutter and lingering infections. We rebuild, reconfigure and restore your machine so it feels new again.
Something new to install, or old programs to clear out? We handle software installs, removals and licensing so everything works together the way it should.
Brand-new or getting on in years, we tune startup items, storage and settings so your computer runs as fast and smoothly as it can.
From the latest consoles to retro favourites, we set them up, sort parental controls, and get them talking to your home network and TV.
Firewalls, antivirus, patching and sensible configuration keep your systems and networks protected, and we step in quickly if something slips through.
We set up and troubleshoot AV, projectors, sound and video conferencing for homes, boardrooms and meeting spaces so presentations just work.
Ransomware, spyware, adware or a stubborn virus? Our technicians remove the infection, recover what they can, and harden the machine so it does not happen again.
New printer refusing to cooperate or an old one gone on strike? We get printing, scanning and drivers working across all your devices.
Not sure what to buy? We give honest, vendor-neutral advice on the devices and solutions that genuinely suit how you live and work.
After damage, loss or theft, we prepare clear condition and valuation reports to support your insurance claim.
CCTV, access control, smart locks, intercoms and alarms, installed, serviced and tied neatly into your network and systems.
