Across the Bridge on the Clyde’s North Shore
Surfside sits on the northern bank of the Clyde River estuary, just across the bridge from central Batemans Bay. It is flat, leafy and close to the water, with a sandy bay beach, the mangroves and saltmarsh of Cullendulla Creek Nature Reserve nearby, and Long Beach a little further east. Administratively it is part of the Eurobodalla, although our site files it under the Shoalhaven.
Residents enjoy being a few minutes from town without living in it. Housing is a mix of older beach cottages, brick homes from the 1980s and 1990s, and newer houses on the few remaining blocks. Retirees, commuting families and holiday owners from Canberra all live side by side here, and each group brings a different set of technology questions.
