Gorges, Old Mines and Very Few Neighbours
Tolwong is one of the most rugged and least populated localities in the Shoalhaven. It lies in deep gorge country along the Shoalhaven River north-west of Nowra, bordered by the wilderness of Morton National Park, and is known to bushwalkers and history buffs for the remains of old copper mining activity in the gorge. Its postcode is 2622, the same as Braidwood, although it falls within Shoalhaven City.
Permanent residents are few and far between. Most of the land is steep, forested and difficult to reach, with any private holdings accessed by long, rough tracks. We have written this page plainly because Tolwong is not a suburb. If you own land or a cabin here, your technology needs revolve around getting a signal at all, keeping devices powered, and staying safe in remote country.
Staying in Touch From the Gorge Country
Anyone spending time on a property near Tolwong quickly finds that mobile phones are close to useless. The steep valley walls block both towers and parts of the sky, so even satellite equipment needs a carefully chosen position, often on a ridge or clearing rather than beside the cabin.
Power is usually solar, sometimes with a generator. We help owners plan a setup that balances communication, lighting and appliances, and we make sure there is a way to call for help if the internet is down. For occasional visitors, a portable satellite kit is often more practical than a permanent install.
Remote Land Use and Specialist Work
There is little conventional business activity in Tolwong. Land here is mostly national park, with some private holdings used for grazing, conservation or recreation. Occasional work is carried out by contractors, surveyors, researchers and land managers who need to record and send data from difficult terrain.
For these users, the aim is to capture information reliably and move it to safety as soon as a connection is available. Laptops and tablets should be encrypted, files should sync automatically, and a simple communication plan should exist before anyone heads into the gorge.
Access and Visits Around Tolwong
Tolwong is reached from the north-western side of the Shoalhaven hinterland via long, unsealed routes, and much of the area is accessible only on foot or by four-wheel drive. Nowra is the nearest large centre, with Braidwood and the Southern Highlands towns further away by road. Weather and track conditions can change access significantly.
Given the terrain, we usually recommend preparing devices before you travel. We can set up equipment in Nowra or remotely, test it, and explain how to use it. On-site work at a Tolwong property is possible with careful planning, but we will always discuss whether it is truly needed first.
Other places we look after in the 2622 postcode include Araluen North 2622, Araluen 2622, Back Creek 2622, Ballalaba 2622 and Bendoura 2622. See every suburb in Shoalhaven, or our IT Support Canberra page for the whole district.

What we do in Tolwong
IT Support Services
Running slow, overheating, fans roaring or refusing to boot at all? We repair laptops and desktops for homes and offices, with most jobs turned around the same day.
When a machine starts misbehaving, our technicians work through it methodically, isolate the real cause, and get you back up and running instead of guessing.
A new printer, monitor, webcam or external drive should just work. We install and configure peripherals so they slot neatly into your existing setup.
Cracked, flickering or blacked-out laptop, tablet and monitor screens are usually repairable. We assess and replace them with genuine parts, quickly.
A quick SSD swap or extra memory can breathe years back into a tired computer. We fit the upgrades that give you the biggest performance gain for the least outlay.
Whether it is a fresh setup, a migration or the classic will-not-send headache, we sort Microsoft 365, Outlook and Google Workspace email for households and teams.
We design, install and extend wired and Wi-Fi networks so homes and offices from Bonython to Chisholm get strong, secure coverage in every room, including tricky NBN connections.
New phone or tablet? We set it up, connect it and carry across your contacts, messages, photos and apps, so you walk away ready to go with nothing left behind.
Patient one-on-one or small-group training for people of any age and skill level, pitched to where you are at so the lessons actually stick.
Failed hard drive, dead USB stick or files that have simply vanished? We work to recover what matters most to you, and if there is no data there is no fee.
We set up automatic local, cloud or hybrid backups for homes and businesses, then test the restore so you know your files will actually come back when it counts.
Encryption, sensible access controls and clear policies keep your data out of the wrong hands without getting in the way of your working day.
Moving to a new device? We transfer your data across cleanly, check every file landed safely, and keep downtime to a minimum.
A fresh Windows or macOS install clears out years of clutter and lingering infections. We rebuild, reconfigure and restore your machine so it feels new again.
Something new to install, or old programs to clear out? We handle software installs, removals and licensing so everything works together the way it should.
Brand-new or getting on in years, we tune startup items, storage and settings so your computer runs as fast and smoothly as it can.
From the latest consoles to retro favourites, we set them up, sort parental controls, and get them talking to your home network and TV.
Firewalls, antivirus, patching and sensible configuration keep your systems and networks protected, and we step in quickly if something slips through.
We set up and troubleshoot AV, projectors, sound and video conferencing for homes, boardrooms and meeting spaces so presentations just work.
Ransomware, spyware, adware or a stubborn virus? Our technicians remove the infection, recover what they can, and harden the machine so it does not happen again.
New printer refusing to cooperate or an old one gone on strike? We get printing, scanning and drivers working across all your devices.
Not sure what to buy? We give honest, vendor-neutral advice on the devices and solutions that genuinely suit how you live and work.
After damage, loss or theft, we prepare clear condition and valuation reports to support your insurance claim.
CCTV, access control, smart locks, intercoms and alarms, installed, serviced and tied neatly into your network and systems.
