Rainforest and Hairpin Bends on the Illawarra Highway
Macquarie Pass is the steep, forested stretch of the Illawarra Highway that climbs from the coastal plain near Albion Park up the escarpment to the Highlands plateau around Robertson. Most of the locality is taken up by Macquarie Pass National Park, with subtropical rainforest, creeks and waterfalls. Homes are few, scattered at the top and bottom of the pass and along side roads.
For the handful of households here, the setting is spectacular but the practicalities are real: steep terrain, heavy rainfall, occasional road closures after storms or landslips, and limited connectivity. When technology fails, the nearest help can be a long drive in either direction. We aim to be a dependable contact for these homes and the few small businesses in the area.
Living Beside the National Park
Terrain and tree cover block many signals, so households often rely on Starlink or other satellite services. Mobile reception can drop out along much of the pass and inside homes. Power interruptions during storms are also a concern.
We help residents choose and install a suitable connection, place dishes where the sky is clearest, protect equipment from power surges and set up Wi-Fi calling so phones work at home. We also help with everyday problems such as slow computers and new devices.
Small Enterprises on the Escarpment
Commercial activity is limited, but some residents operate rural businesses, consultancies or creative work from home, and a few properties offer short-stay accommodation for visitors to the national park and the Highlands. Travellers on the highway also support nearby hospitality at the top and bottom of the pass.
Businesses here need systems that cope with disruptions: backup internet connections, cloud-based files and remote support. We help design setups that keep working when roads or connections are affected.
Between Robertson and Albion Park
The pass links Robertson and the Highlands with Albion Park, Tongarra and the Shellharbour area. Jamberoo Mountain Road offers an alternative route to the coast further south. The highway can be closed after heavy rain or rockfalls, which affects travel times.
We generally start with a phone call and remote session, then plan an on-site visit carefully, checking road conditions and access in advance. If your connection or equipment is unreliable, our computer and wireless networks service covers design and installation.

What we do in Macquarie Pass
IT Support Services
Running slow, overheating, fans roaring or refusing to boot at all? We repair laptops and desktops for homes and offices, with most jobs turned around the same day.
When a machine starts misbehaving, our technicians work through it methodically, isolate the real cause, and get you back up and running instead of guessing.
A new printer, monitor, webcam or external drive should just work. We install and configure peripherals so they slot neatly into your existing setup.
Cracked, flickering or blacked-out laptop, tablet and monitor screens are usually repairable. We assess and replace them with genuine parts, quickly.
A quick SSD swap or extra memory can breathe years back into a tired computer. We fit the upgrades that give you the biggest performance gain for the least outlay.
Whether it is a fresh setup, a migration or the classic will-not-send headache, we sort Microsoft 365, Outlook and Google Workspace email for households and teams.
We design, install and extend wired and Wi-Fi networks so homes and offices from Bonython to Chisholm get strong, secure coverage in every room, including tricky NBN connections.
New phone or tablet? We set it up, connect it and carry across your contacts, messages, photos and apps, so you walk away ready to go with nothing left behind.
Patient one-on-one or small-group training for people of any age and skill level, pitched to where you are at so the lessons actually stick.
Failed hard drive, dead USB stick or files that have simply vanished? We work to recover what matters most to you, and if there is no data there is no fee.
We set up automatic local, cloud or hybrid backups for homes and businesses, then test the restore so you know your files will actually come back when it counts.
Encryption, sensible access controls and clear policies keep your data out of the wrong hands without getting in the way of your working day.
Moving to a new device? We transfer your data across cleanly, check every file landed safely, and keep downtime to a minimum.
A fresh Windows or macOS install clears out years of clutter and lingering infections. We rebuild, reconfigure and restore your machine so it feels new again.
Something new to install, or old programs to clear out? We handle software installs, removals and licensing so everything works together the way it should.
Brand-new or getting on in years, we tune startup items, storage and settings so your computer runs as fast and smoothly as it can.
From the latest consoles to retro favourites, we set them up, sort parental controls, and get them talking to your home network and TV.
Firewalls, antivirus, patching and sensible configuration keep your systems and networks protected, and we step in quickly if something slips through.
We set up and troubleshoot AV, projectors, sound and video conferencing for homes, boardrooms and meeting spaces so presentations just work.
Ransomware, spyware, adware or a stubborn virus? Our technicians remove the infection, recover what they can, and harden the machine so it does not happen again.
New printer refusing to cooperate or an old one gone on strike? We get printing, scanning and drivers working across all your devices.
Not sure what to buy? We give honest, vendor-neutral advice on the devices and solutions that genuinely suit how you live and work.
After damage, loss or theft, we prepare clear condition and valuation reports to support your insurance claim.
CCTV, access control, smart locks, intercoms and alarms, installed, serviced and tied neatly into your network and systems.
