EnviroProtect initially relied on TechSend for ad-hoc desktop support, which quickly evolved into a full-fledged managed IT service as their infrastructure needs grew. The primary challenge stemmed from an outdated Windows 2008 SMB Server, limiting file sharing capabilities and remote access. Moreover, aging ADSL connectivity exacerbated these limitations.

TechSend responded by undertaking a comprehensive upgrade initiative. This included:

Server Modernisation: Upgrading the Windows 2008 SMB Server with critical Windows updates to improve functionality and security.

Cloud Migration: Integrating Azure AD Connect to facilitate seamless migration to Microsoft 365, enabling cloud-based email services and enhancing external access without the need for an on-premises VPN.

Windows 10 Deployment: Rolling out Windows 10 across all workstations, establishing standardized configurations to streamline operations and improve user experience.

In parallel with server and software upgrades, TechSend uplifted EnviroProtect’s internet connectivity to NBN standards, ensuring faster and more reliable internet access. A pivotal milestone was the launch of a new website in 2020, designed and managed by TechSend, which enhanced EnviroProtect’s online presence and customer engagement capabilities.

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated rapid adaptation to enable remote work capabilities. TechSend swiftly transitioned EnviroProtect from a hybrid on-premises setup to a robust cloud-based infrastructure. Key initiatives included:

Cloud Solutions Implementation: Deploying Microsoft Intune for device management, Microsoft Teams for collaboration, and OneDrive for secure document storage.

Remote Training: Conducting comprehensive remote training sessions to ensure EnviroProtect staff were proficient in utilizing Teams for seamless document sharing and collaboration.

In 2023, a devastating fire destroyed EnviroProtect’s headquarters. Thanks to TechSend’s proactive disaster recovery planning and resilient cloud infrastructure, EnviroProtect experienced minimal operational disruption. Immediate support was provided to set up a new office location, complete with:

Hardware Upgrades: Procurement and setup of new laptops, monitors, and networking equipment.

Network Redesign: Implementation of a robust wireless network solution with Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) NBN connectivity and Power over Ethernet (PoE) capabilities using Ubiquiti networking solutions.

As part of enhancing communication and collaboration, TechSend implemented Microsoft Teams as a comprehensive phone system solution for EnviroProtect.

This initiative included:

Unified Communications: Integrating Microsoft Teams with EnviroProtect’s existing IT infrastructure to unify messaging, calling, and meeting capabilities within a single platform.

Voice Over IP (VoIP) Integration: Transitioning from traditional ISDN systems to VoIP-enabled Microsoft Teams, enabling seamless voice communications over the internet.

Direct Routing Configuration: Setting up Direct Routing to connect Microsoft Teams to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), allowing EnviroProtect to make and receive external calls directly from Teams.

Phone Hardware Selection: Collaborating with Telstra, TechSend facilitated the purchase and setup of Power over Ethernet (PoE) handsets compatible with Teams, ensuring optimal functionality and user experience.
